Watch out for coronation scams

Cybersecurity company Kaspersky and Hertfordshire Police have issued warnings about dodgy websites, phishing emails and cold callers to people buying memorabilia for the coronation of King Charles III this weekend.

Dodgy emails contain links to 'shops' where you can buy items such as coins, plates and mugs. If you enter your details, you'll be giving them to scammers who may use your information to trade on the dark web or access your bank account.

The rise of mobile banking fraud

Losses to mobile banking fraud rose by 16% in the first half of 2022 – and the chances of getting your money back are slim.

In one shocking example, a thief drained £73,000 from a victim’s personal and business accounts, with only £15,000 recovered from the bank in question. We believe banks should be better at warning customers about the dangers of mobile phone fraud.

By following our three simple steps, you can reduce your chances of falling victim to mobile banking scams.

Put to Rights - identity theft

Do you have a consumer issue that you need to put right? Which? can help you.

For our latest Put to Rights piece, we helped a victim of identity fraud who received letters about car insurance policies they had never purchased.

This is an example of ghost broking – where car insurance policies are applied for using someone else’s details then sold cheaply to unsuspecting drivers.
