Regional papers publishing opinions from people in the community is a great way to raise the profile of this issue

Help us keep cash on the agenda. We know that cash is so important to communities across the UK – it just doesn’t always get the attention it deserves.

Send a short letter to your local paper now.

It’s really important to make sure your letter is personalised. After all, no one knows how the issue of access to cash affects you and your local community better than you do.

Keep it assertive but polite, also brief. Around 150-200 words is ideal. We've provided some talking points below to help you get started.

  • How is losing access to cash impacting you and your community? Include any specific examples.

  • Your personal concerns about cash withdrawal points, including bank branch closures and ATMs disappearing or switching from free to pay to use.

  • Share your concerns about the future of your local high street if the government doesn’t take steps to make sure everybody has access to cash as a payment method for as long as they need.

Need some inspiration? Our team has written an example letter to help you get going – just for inspiration purposes. If an editor thinks they've received a pre-written letter, or they receive several almost identical letters, they’re much less likely to publish it.

Ready? Great! Our tool will send the email to your selected papers on your behalf (they will be able to reply to your email directly).
